Wigan Warriors head coach Matt Peet has expressed his commitment to the club, indicating he could extend his tenure beyond his current contract, which runs until 2030. Peet, along with assistants Sean O’Loughlin and Thomas Leuluai, signed seven-year extensions last March after leading Wigan to multiple titles, including the Challenge Cup, League Leaders’ Shield, Super League, and the World Club Challenge victory over Penrith Panthers.

Despite his admiration for rugby union and previous experience with Sale Sharks, Peet remains dedicated to Wigan. He emphasized the importance of family and continuity, stating, “I don’t see why I couldn’t be here beyond those seven years if I continue to do a good job.” Peet also highlighted the stability his long-term contract brings to the club, allowing for consistent development of young players and staff.

Peet’s leadership has been instrumental in Wigan’s recent successes. The team showcased their prowess in a historic match in Las Vegas, defeating Warrington Wolves 48-24. This event marked Super League’s first venture into the U.S. market, aiming to expand rugby league’s global presence.

Looking ahead, Peet remains focused on maintaining Wigan’s high standards and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. He acknowledges the challenges of staying relevant but is committed to adapting and evolving with the club. Peet’s dedication to Wigan Warriors underscores his belief in the club’s vision and his desire to contribute to its long-term success.
