Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the club has agreed to terms with defenceman Tom Willander on a three-year, entry-level contract beginning in the 2025.26 NHL season.
Selected 11th overall by the Canucks in the 2023 NHL Draft, Willander has continued to impress with his development and strong two-way play. The 6-foot-1, right-shot defenceman recently completed a standout season with Boston University in the NCAA, where he showcased his speed, hockey IQ, and defensive reliability. His performance further solidified his status as one of the Canucks’ top blue-line prospects.
“Tom has made significant strides in his development and continues to show great promise as a future NHL defenceman,” said Allvin. “His maturity, mobility, and compete level make him a strong addition to our organization. We are excited to officially welcome him to the Canucks.”
Willander is expected to attend the Canucks’ training camp ahead of the 2025.26 season and will compete for a roster spot. With a strong foundation of skating and poise under pressure, he is anticipated to play a key role in the team’s long-term defensive core.
This signing reflects Vancouver’s continued commitment to building through youth and talent development.
