A major trade could be on the horizon for the Toronto Maple Leafs as NHL analysts suggest the team is looking to make a big move ahead of the March 7 trade deadline. According to Sportsnet’s Justin Bourne, the Leafs may need to part with one of their top prospects—Fraser Minten or Easton Cowan—to land an impact player. The Leafs are reportedly prioritizing a top-six center or a strong defensive presence to bolster their playoff chances .
One intriguing target linked to Toronto is Buffalo Sabres forward Dylan Cozens. Analysts on the Real Kyper and Bourne Show believe Cozens would be a “perfect fit” for the Leafs, but acquiring him could require a package including Cowan, additional prospects, and draft picks . If Cozens proves too costly, Toronto could pursue more affordable options like Charlie Coyle or Nick Bjugstad.
Another potential move involves trading for Nashville Predators forward Ryan O’Reilly. A deal could involve sending a second-round pick, Nikita Grebenkin, and a contract like Conor Timmins or Connor Dewar to clear cap space .
With the trade deadline approaching, Leafs GM Brad Treliving faces a crucial decision: make a bold move now or risk another early playoff
exit.
