As of June 2024, Dallas Mavericks General Manager Nico Harrison had signed a multi-year contract extension with the team, reinforcing his commitment to the franchise. 
However, recent reports indicate that Harrison declined to offer a five-year, $350 million supermax extension to star player Luka Dončić. This decision was reportedly influenced by concerns over Dončić’s commitment to conditioning, off-court dietary discipline, leadership qualities, interactions with referees, and potential long-term health.
Subsequently, the Mavericks traded Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis and Max Christie. This proactive move aimed to avoid a potentially tumultuous summer of contract negotiations and to address the team’s reservations about Dončić’s long-term fit with the franchise.
Despite these significant roster changes, there is no current information suggesting that Nico Harrison has rejected a new contract offer from the Mavericks. In fact, his existing contract extension underscores his ongoing dedication to leading the team’s strategic direction.
