Kentucky Wildcats’ guard Jaxson Robinson has announced his departure from the team due to a season-ending wrist injury. Robinson suffered a torn sub-sheath to his Extensor Carpi Ulnaris (ECU) tendon in his right wrist during a game against the Auburn Tigers. This injury requires surgical intervention, sidelining him for approximately three months.
Robinson, a fifth-year senior, transferred to Kentucky from BYU, following head coach Mark Pope. He had previously withdrawn from the NBA Draft to utilize his final year of collegiate eligibility with the Wildcats. At Kentucky, Robinson averaged 13 points per game, showcasing his scoring ability and versatility.
The injury not only ends Robinson’s college career prematurely but also poses challenges for Kentucky’s postseason aspirations. The Wildcats will now rely on players like Koby Brea, Lamont Butler, and Otega Oweh to fill the void left by Robinson’s absence.
Robinson is scheduled to undergo surgery this week and is expected to make a full recovery by late May or early June, allowing him to pursue professional basketball opportunities thereafter.
