Wales manager Rob Page has confirmed that young midfielder Jordan James will travel with the national team to the FIFA World Cup later this month, despite not being named in the final 26-man squad. The Birmingham City starlet has impressed with his recent performances and is viewed as a key prospect for the future of Welsh football.
Page explained that although James won’t feature in the tournament itself unless an injury opens up a spot, his inclusion in the travelling party is part of a long-term strategy. The 19-year-old will train with the squad, gain valuable experience, and continue his development by being around a high-performance environment during one of football’s biggest stages.
“Jordan is an exciting young talent, and this is a great opportunity for him to grow and learn,” said Page. “He’s earned his place among the group with his attitude and performances.”
By involving James in the World Cup setup, Page and his staff are investing in the future, ensuring a smoother transition for the next generation of players. The decision reflects the growing importance of player development alongside competitive performance at international tournaments. Wales begin their World Cup campaign later this month with high hopes and a mix of youth and experience.
