Penn State’s wrestling team achieved a historic milestone at the 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s Wrestling Championships in Philadelphia by becoming only the second team in NCAA history to have all 10 of its wrestlers earn All-American honors. This accomplishment was previously achieved only by Minnesota in 2001.

Under the leadership of head coach Cael Sanderson, the Nittany Lions not only secured their 13th national team title but also broke their own tournament record by scoring 177 points. Three Penn State wrestlers advanced to the championship finals: Mitchell Mesenbrink at 165 pounds, Carter Starocci at 184 pounds, and Josh Barr at 197 pounds. Notably, Carter Starocci made NCAA history by becoming the first wrestler to win five national titles, achieving this feat after moving up to the 184-pound weight class.

This dominant performance underscores Penn State’s continued excellence in collegiate wrestling, solidifying their position at the pinnacle of the sport.
