Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has signed a three-year contract extension with the club, committing his future to the Reds despite a challenging period marred by injury. The Nigerian international, who initially joined Forest in 2022 from Union Berlin, has struggled with a serious abdominal injury that required surgery and sidelined him for much of the 2023/24 season.

Speaking after putting pen to paper, Awoniyi expressed gratitude and relief at securing his future with the Premier League side. “I’m truly grateful to still be here. The club stood by me during a difficult time, and I’m looking forward to repaying that faith on the pitch,” he said.

Despite his injury woes, the 26-year-old has made a significant impact at the City Ground, scoring crucial goals in Forest’s successful fight to avoid relegation in both of his seasons. His strength, movement, and goal-scoring instincts have made him a fan favorite.

Manager Nuno Espírito Santo welcomed the extension, praising Awoniyi’s character and determination during recovery. With his future now secured and a return to full fitness on the horizon, Forest fans will hope Awoniyi can play a pivotal role in the upcoming campaign.
