NHL BREAKING NEWS: Scott Laughton has officially join the Toronto maple leafs..

The Toronto Maple Leafs have bolstered their roster by acquiring veteran forward Scott Laughton from the Philadelphia Flyers. In exchange, the Maple Leafs sent forward prospect Nikita Grebenkin and a conditional first-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft to Philadelphia. Additionally, Toronto received a fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft and a sixth-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft. Notably, the Flyers are retaining 50% of Laughton’s salary in this deal.

Laughton, 30, brings a wealth of experience to Toronto. Over his 12-season tenure with the Flyers, he amassed 265 points (106 goals, 159 assists) in 661 games. This season, he has contributed 27 points (11 goals, 16 assists) in 60 games. Laughton’s leadership qualities are well-regarded; he served as an alternate captain in Philadelphia and was a key player in their “Power Kill” penalty-killing strategy.

Born in Oakville, Ontario, Laughton has deep roots in the Toronto area. He has a longstanding relationship with current Maple Leafs forward Max Domi, dating back to their childhood. This familiarity is expected to enhance team chemistry and performance on the ice.

This acquisition addresses the Maple Leafs’ center position, providing depth and experience as they gear up for the postseason. Laughton’s versatility and leadership are anticipated to make an immediate impact on Toronto’s lineup.
