Lamont Butler, the standout guard for the Kentucky Wildcats, is feeling “really good” as he continues to play through a shoulder injury sustained in January. Despite the injury, Butler has been instrumental in Kentucky’s impressive NCAA Tournament run under first-year coach Mark Pope.
In the Wildcats’ recent 84-75 victory over Illinois, Butler contributed 14 points, five assists, and three steals. His performance was particularly notable given his limited practice time leading up to the game. Coach Pope praised Butler’s resilience, stating, “Courage is real. But so is love. And he absolutely loves his teammates and is playing for them.”
Butler’s leadership and determination have been pivotal in Kentucky’s advancement to the Sweet 16, marking the program’s first appearance since 2019. His ability to perform under pressure has solidified his status as a key player in the Wildcats’ tournament success.
