Maynard, a key defender for Collingwood, has been a significant contributor since his debut in 2015, amassing over 210 games. In October 2024, he signed a two-year contract extension, securing his position with the Magpies through the end of the 2026 season. This move was part of Collingwood’s strategy to retain their core players and build upon their recent successes .
Despite this commitment, Maynard’s future had been a topic of discussion due to his status as an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2025 season. He acknowledged the business aspect of the sport, stating, “I would feel weird in another jumper, but it is a business, so whatever happens, happens” .
