June 16, 2025 – Los Angeles, CA — Netflix has announced the upcoming release of a powerful and deeply investigative documentary centered on the Penn State child abuse scandal, which shook the American sports and academic world in the early 2010s. Titled “Fall of a Titan: The Penn State Reckoning,” the documentary is set to premiere globally on July 26, 2025.

The multi-part docuseries delves into the chilling allegations of sexual abuse committed by former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky and the subsequent cover-up that led to criminal convictions, institutional fallout, and a national reckoning around accountability and institutional loyalty.

Directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker Lisa Renz, the series features exclusive interviews with victims and their families, former university staff, investigators, and journalists who covered the case. It also includes never-before-seen archival footage and court transcripts, offering an unflinching look at how one of America’s most respected universities failed to protect the most vulnerable.

“Penn State’s story is not just about a scandal—it’s about systemic failure and the culture of silence that allowed it to happen,” Renz said in a statement. “We wanted to honor the voices of the survivors and confront the uncomfortable truths behind the institution’s response.”

Netflix expects the documentary to generate intense discussion and reflection, not only in sports and academic circles but also in the broader societal conversation about power, responsibility, and justice.

“Fall of a Titan: The Penn State Reckoning” will be available in five episodes, each running approximately 60 minutes. It follows Netflix’s recent trend of producing critically acclaimed true-crime and institutional exposé documentaries, including The Keepers and Athlete A.
