Legacy Motor Club has officially filed a lawsuit against a rival NASCAR team, alleging the unauthorized acquisition and use of proprietary data. The lawsuit, filed in North Carolina Superior Court, accuses the unnamed team of stealing strategic information related to car setups, race simulations, and pit strategies.
According to legal documents, Legacy Motor Club claims that a former employee who recently joined the rival team carried confidential data that has since been used to gain a competitive edge during the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season. The team asserts that this breach has compromised their race performance and resulted in substantial financial losses.
“This is about protecting the integrity of our operations and the fairness of competition in NASCAR,” said a spokesperson for Legacy Motor Club. “We are pursuing this matter to the fullest extent of the law.”
NASCAR officials have acknowledged the legal action but have yet to make an official statement, citing the ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, both teams continue to compete on track, though tensions have reportedly escalated behind the scenes.
The accused team has denied all allegations and stated that they will defend themselves vigorously in court. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for next month.
