The University of Oklahoma has officially extended the contract of its esteemed softball head coach, Patty Gasso, through the 2028 season. This new agreement will provide Gasso with an average annual compensation of approximately $2.05 million, reinforcing her status as the highest-paid coach in collegiate softball.

 

Gasso’s tenure at Oklahoma has been marked by unparalleled success. Since her arrival in 1995, she has guided the Sooners to eight Women’s College World Series titles, including a historic four consecutive national championships in recent years. Under her leadership, the team has amassed an impressive record of 1,515-352-2, solidifying Oklahoma’s dominance in the sport.

 

In addition to Gasso’s extension, her coaching staff has also benefited from the university’s commitment to excellence. Associate head coaches Jen Rocha and JT Gasso have each received salary increases, now earning $300,000 annually.

 

Beyond her achievements at the collegiate level, Gasso’s influence extends to the international stage. She has been appointed as the head coach of the USA Softball Women’s National Team for the 2025-2028 quadrennium, leading up to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. This appointment underscores her reputation as one of the sport’s premier coaching talents.
