Latest news: Maple Leafs took a new step at signing free-agent NCAA centre Luke Haymes, assign to Marlies..

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed 21-year-old centre Luke Haymes to a two-year contract beginning in the 2025-26 NHL season. For the remainder of the 2024-25 season, Haymes will join the Toronto Marlies, the Maple Leafs’ AHL affiliate, on an amateur tryout.

Haymes recently completed an impressive career at Dartmouth College, where he accumulated 70 points (41 goals, 29 assists) over 83 games. In the 2024-25 season, he recorded 18 points (12 goals, six assists) in just 22 games due to injury. His accolades include selections to the 2023-24 NCAA All-Ivy League First Team and the NCAA (ECAC) First All-Star Team.

The Maple Leafs’ acquisition of Haymes adds depth to their prospect pool, with expectations that he will compete for a roster spot in the upcoming seasons.
