MSC Cruises has officially announced that actress and talk show host Drew Barrymore will serve as the Godmother of their newest flagship, MSC World America. The naming ceremony is scheduled for April 9, 2025, at MSC’s new terminal in PortMiami, the world’s largest cruise terminal.
Barrymore will preside over the traditional christening, which includes breaking a champagne bottle against the ship’s bow. Actor Orlando Bloom, her co-star in MSC’s “Let’s Holiday” campaign, will also attend the event.
Following the ceremony, MSC World America will embark on a celebratory sailing to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve in The Bahamas. The ship will then commence its inaugural season on April 12, 2025, offering alternating seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. Destinations include Puerto Plata, San Juan, Costa Maya, Cozumel, Isla de Roatan, and Ocean Cay.
MSC World America is MSC Cruises’ first LNG-powered ship in the U.S., reflecting the company’s commitment to sustainable cruising. The vessel features seven onboard districts, 19 dining venues—including the only Eataly restaurant at sea—and 18 bars and lounges. Notable attractions include The Harbour, an outdoor family area with the Cliffhanger over-water swing ride, and the expansive World Promenade.
