
In a move that has reverberated throughout the cruise industry, Azamara has appointed Dondra Ritzenthaler as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective May 2024.
Ritzenthaler, a seasoned executive with over 40 years in the travel sector, previously held the position of Senior Vice President of Sales, Trade Support, and Services for the Americas at Celebrity Cruises. Her extensive experience also includes nearly two decades at American Airlines in various sales and marketing leadership roles.
Ritzenthaler’s appointment marks a significant leadership transition for Azamara. She expressed enthusiasm about steering the company into its next chapter, emphasizing her commitment to enhancing customer experiences and expanding the Azamara brand. Until her official start, Azamara’s Chair, Dan Hanrahan, will oversee daily operations.
In tandem with this leadership change, Azamara has introduced a revamped reservation system, RezA, aimed at improving efficiency and user experience for travel advisors. The system incorporates features such as intuitive design, automated payment reminders, and access to marketing content, reflecting Ritzenthaler’s proactive approach to innovation.
These developments signal a transformative period for Azamara, as the company positions itself for growth and enhanced service delivery under Ritzenthaler’s leadership.
