JUST IN: am living: Chris Wood officially announced departure from Nottingham forest due to.. Full details..

Chris Wood has officially announced his departure from Nottingham Forest, concluding a remarkable tenure that saw him become the club’s all-time leading Premier League goalscorer.

The decision stems from a contract impasse, with Wood seeking a two-year extension while Forest offered only a one-year deal. At 33, Wood remains in peak form, having netted 14 goals in 22 league appearances this season, playing a pivotal role in Forest’s ascent to third place in the Premier League standings.

Wood’s departure is also influenced by personal aspirations. He has expressed a desire to return to his native New Zealand for a year with his wife, Emma, and hopes to play club football there. Despite his contract with Forest running until the end of the 2026-27 season, Wood is considering joining either Wellington Phoenix or Auckland FC, both clubs in the Australian A-League.

His exit leaves a significant void in Forest’s attacking lineup. Manager Nuno Espírito Santo now faces the challenge of finding a replacement who can match Wood’s leadership and goal-scoring prowess. As the January transfer window approaches, Forest is expected to be active in the market to bolster their squad for the remainder of the season.
