‘He’s going to bounce back’: Ex-Canucks coach Tocchet believes Pettersson will rebound in 2025-2026.. Read more..

Former Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet has expressed strong confidence in Elias Pettersson’s ability to rebound in the 2025-2026 NHL season. After a disappointing playoff performance and a somewhat inconsistent 2024-2025 campaign, questions have arisen about Pettersson’s long-term potential. However, Tocchet remains optimistic, stating, “He’s going to bounce back. He’s too talented and too smart not to.”

Pettersson, known for his elite hockey IQ and slick playmaking, struggled to find consistency last season, particularly in the postseason. Critics questioned his physical play and confidence under pressure, but Tocchet believes the adversity could serve as fuel for growth. “Sometimes players need to go through tough stretches to come out stronger,” he noted.

With a new season on the horizon, the Canucks organization is expected to give Pettersson a fresh opportunity to reclaim his role as a franchise cornerstone. Tocchet emphasized the importance of surrounding him with the right support system, both on and off the ice.

The Swedish forward is entering a crucial year in his career, and all eyes will be on how he responds. For Tocchet and many fans, there’s still plenty of faith that Pettersson can rediscover his top form and be a dominant force once again.
