Richmond, KY – June 27, 2025 – Today, the Big Blue Nation sends its loudest birthday wishes to one of its most beloved sons — Dominique Hawkins, the pride of Richmond, Kentucky, and a fan-favorite during his time with the University of Kentucky Wildcats.
Born and raised in Richmond, Hawkins became a local legend long before stepping foot on the Rupp Arena floor. In 2013, he was named Mr. Kentucky Basketball and earned the title of Gatorade State Player of the Year, a testament to his skill, leadership, and dedication on the court.
Wearing jersey #25, Dominique played four full seasons under Coach John Calipari from 2013 to 2017. Known for his relentless defense, high basketball IQ, and unmatched work ethic, Hawkins proved to be a vital role player and spark plug off the bench throughout his college career.
As a senior, he stepped up in a big way, earning a spot on the All-SEC Tournament Team, helping guide the Wildcats to yet another deep postseason run. Over his four years at Kentucky, Hawkins totaled 293 points, 103 assists, 123 rebounds, 47 steals, and 5 blocks — stats that only begin to tell the story of his impact on the program.
Off the stat sheet, Dominique was a leader in the locker room and a symbol of Kentucky pride, embodying what it means to wear the blue and white.
Today, the entire Commonwealth joins Richmond in saying:
Happy Birthday, Dominique Hawkins! Thank you for your heart, hustle, and commitment to Kentucky Basketball.
Here’s to another year of greatness — once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat! 💙🐾
