As of March 5, 2025, there is no official confirmation that the Toronto Maple Leafs have signed 31-year-old St. Louis Blues captain Brayden Schenn to a record-breaking $81 million deal.
Recent reports indicate that the Maple Leafs have expressed interest in acquiring Schenn to bolster their center depth ahead of the NHL trade deadline on March 7. Schenn, who recently played his 1,000th NHL game on February 27, 2025, has 12 goals and 22 assists in 58 games this season.
He is currently under contract with the Blues through the 2027-28 season, carrying a $6.5 million annual cap hit. Any potential trade would require the Maple Leafs to navigate salary cap constraints and meet the Blues’ significant asking price, which could include a first-round pick and top prospects. As of now, no deal has been finalized.
