The Los Angeles Lakers have a history of integrating talent from the University of Kentucky into their roster. Notably, Anthony Davis, a former Wildcat, has been a cornerstone of the team, delivering remarkable performances that have significantly contributed to the Lakers’ success. 
In recent years, the Lakers have continued this trend by signing other former Kentucky players. In September 2023, they secured forward Jarred Vanderbilt to a contract extension. Vanderbilt, who played one season at Kentucky, has been a valuable asset to the team, known for his defensive prowess and rebounding skills.
Additionally, in April 2022, the Lakers signed Wenyen Gabriel to a standard NBA contract after initially bringing him on with a two-way deal. Gabriel, who spent two seasons at Kentucky from 2016 to 2018, has brought energy and versatility to the Lakers’ frontcourt.
