The Los Angeles Lakers have made a major move in NBA free agency, signing veteran center Clint Capela to a two-year, $22 million contract. The 11-year pro, known for his rebounding dominance, rim protection, and elite lob-finishing ability, brings a crucial inside presence to a Lakers team looking to make a deep playoff push.
Capela, 30, spent the past four seasons with the Atlanta Hawks, averaging 11.5 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game last season. His athleticism, pick-and-roll defense, and experience make him an ideal fit alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. More importantly, Capela fills a long-standing need at center for the Lakers—someone who can anchor the paint, clean up the glass, and provide vertical spacing on offense.
