Florida Gators Unveil $5.3 Billion Renovation of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, Ushering in a New Era of College Football…

The University of Florida has announced a significant renovation of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, commonly known as “The Swamp,” with an estimated cost of approximately $400 million. This project aims to modernize the nearly century-old stadium while preserving its historic atmosphere. The renovations will encompass upgrades to concourses, entry gates, seating, concessions, restrooms, as well as enhancements to video boards and the sound system .

 

Crawford Architects, in collaboration with Gensler, has been selected to lead the design efforts. Their focus is on enhancing the fan experience, extending the stadium’s lifespan, and maximizing revenue opportunities . The renovation is considered the most ambitious facility project in the university’s athletic history, aiming to ensure the stadium remains a premier venue for college football for generations to come .

 

An aggressive fundraising campaign is underway to support the project, with the goal of having the entire project team in place by January 2024 . While specific timelines and final costs are still being determined, the university is committed to delivering a state-of-the-art facility that honors the legacy of The Swamp.
