Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Fraser Minten has been traded from the WHL’s Kamloops Blazers to the Saskatoon Blades in a significant exchange. The Blazers received forward Jordan Keller, along with first-round picks in 2024 and 2025, and a fourth-round pick in 2024.
Minten, 19, was drafted 38th overall by the Maple Leafs in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. He began the 2023-24 NHL season with Toronto, appearing in four games before being returned to Kamloops, where he was named team captain. In seven games with the Blazers this season, Minten tallied three goals and seven assists.
Saskatoon Blades President and General Manager, Colin Priestner, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, highlighting Minten’s high character, skill, and NHL experience as key assets for the team’s pursuit of their first WHL Championship.
Jordan Keller, an 18-year-old forward and Kamloops native, joins the Blazers with five goals and three assists in 23 games this season. His father, Aaron Keller, is a former Blazer, adding a familial connection to the trade.
This strategic move aims to bolster both teams’ rosters, with the Blades enhancing their championship prospects and the Blazers investing in future talent.
