In a landmark gesture of gratitude and legacy-building, WNBA superstars and national champions A’ja Wilson and Aliyah Boston have announced a multi-million dollar endowment to support the University of South Carolina’s women’s basketball program. The former Gamecocks, both of whom played under legendary coach Dawn Staley, are giving back to the institution that launched their storied careers.
The endowment, one of the largest ever by female athletes to a collegiate sports program, is designed to provide scholarships, facilities upgrades, and leadership development programs for future Gamecocks. The duo emphasized their commitment to equity in sports and empowering the next generation of women athletes, particularly women of color.
“This program shaped who we are—not just as athletes, but as leaders,” Wilson said during the announcement. Boston added, “We want to make sure future Gamecocks have even more opportunities than we did.”
The University of South Carolina praised the initiative, calling it a transformational moment for women’s college basketball. With their generous contribution, Wilson and Boston have not only honored their roots but also ignited a powerful legacy that will benefit young athletes for years to come.
