USC Trojans fans have reason to celebrate as 5-star defensive end Xavier Griffin officially announced his commitment to the program, turning down heavy interest from top SEC powerhouses. Griffin, a standout from Georgia and one of the most sought-after recruits in the 2025 class, cited USC’s coaching staff, player development, and academic support as key factors in his decision.
“This is a dream come true,” Griffin said. “Coach Riley and Coach Odom have believed in me since day one. I know this is where I’m meant to be.”
Griffin had offers from Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Florida, but after his official visit to Los Angeles, he made it clear that USC had his heart. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound pass rusher brings elite athleticism, speed off the edge, and a high football IQ—making him a potential early contributor for the Trojans.
His commitment marks a major win for USC’s recruiting efforts as they continue to establish themselves as national contenders under Lincoln Riley. Griffin’s decision also sends a message that the Trojans can compete with the SEC for top-tier talent.
With Griffin on board, USC’s 2025 recruiting class is now ranked among the top 5 nationally.
