Netflix has officially announced the release date for its much-anticipated documentary celebrating the life and legacy of Florida State Seminoles softball head coach Lonni Alameda. The emotional and inspiring film, titled “Diamond Legacy: The Lonni Alameda Story,” is set to premiere globally on August 9, 2025, coinciding with National Women’s Day.
The documentary will chronicle Alameda’s journey from a standout collegiate pitcher to one of the most respected and successful coaches in NCAA softball history. Under her leadership, Florida State has become a powerhouse, including a national championship in 2018 and numerous Women’s College World Series appearances. But beyond the wins, the film will focus on Lonni’s impact as a mentor, leader, and advocate for women in sports.
Emotional interviews with former players, coaches, and family members highlight how Alameda’s influence extends far beyond the diamond. “She didn’t just build a program — she built women of strength, character, and purpose,” says one former player in the trailer.
Netflix promises a deeply human story filled with resilience, inspiration, and legacy. As the Seminole community and fans around the country prepare for its release, “Diamond Legacy” is poised to become one of the year’s most powerful sports documentaries.
