Craig Berube, a distinguished figure in professional ice hockey, has recently been appointed as the head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs, marking a significant milestone in his coaching career.

Born on December 17, 1965, in Calahoo, Alberta, Berube enjoyed a 17-season NHL playing career, primarily as an enforcer, accumulating 3,149 penalty minutes—the seventh-highest in NHL history.

Transitioning to coaching, Berube served as head coach for the Philadelphia Flyers from 2013 to 2015. In 2018, he took over as interim head coach for the St. Louis Blues, leading them from last place to their first Stanley Cup championship in 2019.

On May 17, 2024, the Toronto Maple Leafs announced Berube as their 32nd head coach, following the departure of Sheldon Keefe. Berube’s appointment is viewed as a strategic move to instill resilience and tenacity in the team, qualities he has exemplified throughout his career.

As Berube embarks on this new chapter with the Maple Leafs, expectations are high for him to leverage his extensive experience and leadership skills to guide the team toward achieving their championship aspirations.
