The Oklahoma Sooners clinched their fourth consecutive Women’s College World Series (WCWS) title on June 6, 2024, defeating the Texas Longhorns 8-4 in Game 2 of the finals. This victory secured their eighth national title, tying them with the Arizona Wildcats for the second-most championships in NCAA softball history.

 

The series garnered significant attention, averaging two million viewers on ESPN, making it the most-watched WCWS Finals on record. Game 1 attracted 1.9 million viewers, the largest ever for an opening game, marking a 46% increase from the previous year.

 

The sports community celebrated the Sooners’ historic achievement. Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray praised the team, tweeting, “Coach Gasso & these girls are amazing…🫔 @OU_Softball 4PEAT!” New Orleans Saints defensive end Cam Jordan also acknowledged their dominance, noting, “Ou taking the softball college World Series again šŸ‘€šŸ‘€šŸ‘€”
