NASCAR has suspended driver Bubba Wallace for one race due to his involvement in race manipulation during the recent event at Martinsville Speedway. This decision comes after an investigation revealed that Wallace intentionally slowed down to allow fellow Toyota driver Christopher Bell to pass him, aiming to aid Bell’s advancement in the playoffs. As a result, Wallace violated Sections 4.4.B & D of the NASCAR Rule Book, which pertain to actions detrimental to stock car racing and race manipulation.

In addition to Wallace’s suspension, his team, 23XI Racing, has been penalized with a $100,000 fine and a deduction of 50 owner points. Crew chief Bootie Barker has also been suspended for the season finale at Phoenix Raceway. These measures underscore NASCAR’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the sport.

This is not the first time Wallace has faced disciplinary action. In October 2022, he received a one-race suspension for intentionally wrecking Kyle Larson during the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, an incident that also involved a physical confrontation between the drivers.

As the 2024 NASCAR season concludes, these penalties highlight the organization’s ongoing efforts to enforce fair competition and sportsmanship among its participants.
