In a major win for the Ottawa Senators and their passionate fanbase, star forward Brady Tkachuk has officially signed a five-year contract extension with the team. The deal, confirmed by General Manager Steve Staios, is worth $47.5 million, carrying an average annual value (AAV) of $9.5 million. The extension solidifies Tkachuk’s role as the cornerstone of the franchise as they continue building toward championship contention.
Tkachuk, 25, has become the face of the Senators since being drafted fourth overall in 2018. Known for his physical play, leadership, and scoring ability, he led the team in points and hits last season and wears the captain’s “C” with pride.
“This city means everything to me,” Tkachuk said during the announcement. “I believe in this group, and I’m excited to be part of what we’re building here.”
Head coach Travis Green praised Tkachuk’s commitment, calling him “the heart and soul of the team.”
The extension is seen as a statement of intent from Ottawa’s management, signaling their dedication to keeping their core intact. With Tkachuk locked in, the Senators aim to end their playoff drought and make a deep postseason run in the coming years.
