The Los Angeles Lakers have officially locked in rising star Austin Reaves with a six-year contract extension worth $83 million, solidifying his role as a key piece in the franchise’s long-term plans. The deal was confirmed by team officials early Monday and marks a major commitment to the versatile guard, who has steadily emerged as one of the Lakers’ most reliable and dynamic contributors.
Reaves, 26, has made significant strides since going undrafted in 2021. His work ethic, basketball IQ, and clutch performances—especially in the playoffs—have made him a fan favorite and an essential part of the Lakers’ rotation. Last season, he averaged 15.9 points, 5.2 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game, showing marked improvement in efficiency and leadership.
Lakers GM Rob Pelinka praised Reaves for his growth and dedication: “Austin represents everything we value in a Laker—toughness, heart, and relentless effort. This extension is well-earned.”
The six-year term gives the Lakers both roster stability and cap flexibility moving forward, as they continue to build around their core of Reaves, Anthony Davis, and potentially Luka Dončić, based on recent speculation.
Reaves is expected to address the media later this week.
