Collingwood Football Club has officially announced the signing of seasoned forward Tim Membrey on a two-year contract as a delisted free agent. The 30-year-old joins the Magpies after a distinguished tenure with St Kilda, where he amassed 293 goals over 178 games and was a three-time leading goal kicker for the Saints.
Membrey’s consistent performance includes seven seasons with over 30 goals, underscoring his reliability and prowess in the forward line. His leadership experience, highlighted by his role in St Kilda’s leadership group from 2019 to 2023, adds valuable depth to Collingwood’s roster.
Collingwood’s Head of Football Strategy, Innovation, and List Management, Justin Leppitsch, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition:
> “We are pleased to welcome Tim to Collingwood. We have been in discussion with Tim for some time and we have identified him as key talent for our list’s needs. Above his football ability, Tim is a quality individual and strong leader, which we know will complement our program.”
Membrey is set to integrate into a forward lineup featuring Brody Mihocek and Dan McStay, both returning from injuries, as well as Bobby Hill, Lachie Schultz, and Beau McCreery. This strategic addition aims to enhance the Magpies’ offensive capabilities for the upcoming season.
This signing marks Collingwood’s third major acquisition of the off-season, following the additions of Harry Perryman from GWS and Daniel Houston from Port Adelaide, reflecting the club’s commitment to strengthening its squad.
