We want to inform everyone that ChaseSexton will be taking a step back from the remainder of the
ProMotocross series following his recent crash in Moto 2 at Ironman. This was a tough moment for him, and after careful consideration, Chase has decided it’s best to focus on recovery and coming back stronger for the upcoming SMX series.
Chase’s journey at Ironman was marked by a promising start. Up until the crash, he was riding at a high level, showing the potential and determination that fans and supporters have come to admire. Unfortunately, during Moto 2, a mechanical issue with his bike — specifically, a brake malfunction — led to a challenging and ultimately disappointing race outcome. Despite his best efforts, the issue compromised his performance and ultimately resulted in a DNF (Did Not Finish). It was a frustrating turn of events, especially considering how well he was riding earlier in the day.
In his own words, Chase reflected on the experience: “Good day going at Ironman until it wasn’t. Going 1-DNF on the day due to a brake malfunction.” This underscores how unpredictable and technical motocross racing can be, where even the best preparation can’t always prevent unforeseen problems. He added that the second moto was beyond his control, and he felt like he was just a passenger in the situation: “The second moto was out of mine and @JadeDungey’s control, and for me, I was just a passenger at that point. I tried all I could do to save it.”
Despite the setbacks, Chase remains positive about his riding progress and outlook. “That being said, I’m still encouraged by my riding and am happy with how it was going up until that point,” he shared. His focus now is on recovery and ensuring he’s fully prepared for what’s ahead. He recognizes that taking time to heal is crucial, especially considering the physical toll the crash has taken on his body.
One specific concern is his right shoulder, which he reports as feeling weak following the crash. He’s actively seeking medical evaluation this week to assess the extent of the injury and determine the best course of action. His priority is to get his body in optimal condition so he can return to racing at 100%, especially in the upcoming SMX series, which is a key focus for him moving forward.
Chase also took a moment to thank the fans for their unwavering support. “Just want to say thank you to the fans for always having my back,” he expressed sincerely. Their encouragement has meant a lot during this challenging time, and he is eager to see everyone again soon. He also shared his excitement about returning to competition in Charlotte, stating, “I can’t wait to see y’all in Charlotte,” with a heartfelt emoji 🫶🏻, showing his genuine appreciation for the community that surrounds him.
While stepping away from the series is a difficult decision, Chase’s focus remains on recovery, improvement, and ultimately, making a strong comeback. His dedication to the sport and his fans is evident, and everyone is looking forward to seeing him back on the track, healthy and ready to contend.
In the meantime, fans and supporters are encouraged to stay tuned for updates on his recovery and future plans. The motocross community is behind him, and his resilience and determination continue to inspire many. We wish Chase a smooth and swift recovery, and we’re confident he’ll return to racing stronger than ever.
