In a bold move set to reshape the landscape of college basketball, the University of Southern California has announced a staggering $1.3 billion renovation to the Galen Center. Dubbed “Galen 2.0,” the project promises to transform the 17-year-old arena into a state-of-the-art sports and entertainment hub, blending cutting-edge technology with premium fan experiences.
Highlights of the renovation include a retractable roof, immersive LED displays, upgraded locker rooms, and luxury suites aimed at elevating both athlete and spectator engagement. Plans also feature expanded student sections, enhanced training facilities, and a public plaza designed to foster year-round community involvement.
USC Athletic Director Jennifer Cohen called the renovation a “historic investment in the future of USC Athletics,” emphasizing its role in recruiting elite talent and elevating fan culture. The project, funded through a mix of private donations and strategic partnerships, is slated for completion by 2028.
This ambitious endeavor positions USC as a trailblazer in the collegiate sports world, signaling a new era where athletic facilities rival those of professional franchises. With Galen 2.0, the Trojans aren’t just building an arena—they’re creating a legacy.
