
The Brisbane Broncos are facing growing pressure in their bid to retain star prop Payne Haas, as reports emerge that the Canterbury Bulldogs have entered the race with a massive offer. The Bulldogs, backed by a strong financial position and an aggressive recruitment strategy, are reportedly preparing a deal worth over $1.2 million per season to lure Haas away from Red Hill.
Haas, widely regarded as the NRL’s premier front-rower, is off-contract at the end of the 2025 season and has become one of the most sought-after signatures in the game. While the Broncos have made re-signing the powerhouse forward a top priority, the competition from the Bulldogs—and potentially other cashed-up clubs—is creating a tense standoff.
Sources close to the negotiations suggest the Bulldogs are positioning themselves as a long-term contender, using Haas as the cornerstone of their forward pack rebuild. Club powerbrokers believe adding a player of Haas’ calibre could fast-track their return to premiership contention.
