Recent developments at Collingwood Football Club have sparked internal tensions and significant roster changes.
Star player Nick Daicos has reportedly expressed frustration over coach Craig McRae’s strategic decisions. McRae has been vocal about transitioning Daicos into a full-time midfield role, citing his exceptional athleticism and running capacity as ideal for the position. However, Daicos appears to have reservations about this shift, preferring his current role within the team. 
In parallel, defender John Noble has requested a trade to the Gold Coast Suns to be closer to his family. Despite being contracted until the end of 2026, Noble’s desire to relocate has been acknowledged by both clubs, and they are working towards a suitable agreement.
These internal dynamics come amid Collingwood’s active pursuit of established talent, including the recent acquisition of GWS free agent Harry Perryman. While these moves aim to strengthen the squad, they have also attracted criticism, with some suggesting the club may be compromising its future by focusing on trades over nurturing young talent.
