BREAKING NEWS:Format for Expanded 2025 NASCAR All-Star Race Revealed: Longer Laps, Higher Stakes.. Read more…

NASCAR has officially unveiled the race format for the 2025 All-Star Race, promising more action, drama, and fan engagement than ever before. Set to take place at North Wilkesboro Speedway on May 18, 2025, the revamped format includes major changes to the race structure, putting strategy and skill at the forefront.

The biggest change is the expansion of the main event to 250 laps, up from last year’s 200, with the track’s historic roots and recent upgrades offering a fresh challenge. The race will be broken into five stages: four 50-lap segments and a 50-lap final shootout. Stage breaks will offer teams a chance to pit and make adjustments, but with only limited sets of tires available, strategy will be key.

Another bold twist is the “Position Reset Draw” after Stage 3, where the top 10 drivers will have their positions randomly shuffled, ensuring a dramatic and unpredictable lead-up to the final 100 laps. Fan votes will again determine one driver to advance to the main event, while two spots will be earned via the Open Race.

NASCAR is also introducing a “Pit Crew Challenge” during the weekend, with the fastest crew earning the pole position for the main event—a nod to the unsung heroes behind the wall.

“This year’s format is all about intensifying competition and rewarding both drivers and teams who perform under pressure,” said NASCAR Senior Vice President Steve O’Donnell.

With rising stars, veteran rivals, and added chaos from the new format, the 2025 NASCAR All-Star Race is shaping up to be one of the most thrilling showcases of the season.
