In a monumental announcement that has electrified the hockey world, the Vancouver Canucks have confirmed that franchise legend Henrik Sedin will return to the organization in 2025 — this time, as a co-owner. The news was made official by the Aquilini family, longtime owners of the team, who praised Sedin’s leadership, legacy, and deep-rooted connection to the Canucks.
Henrik, who spent his entire 17-season NHL career in Vancouver, is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in franchise history. Known for his elite vision, playmaking ability, and two-way excellence, he served as captain from 2010 to 2018, leading the team to multiple playoff appearances, including a memorable run to the 2011 Stanley Cup Final.
Now, in a historic shift from the bench to the boardroom, Sedin’s new role will allow him to help shape the team’s future on and off the ice. “Vancouver has always been home,” Sedin said. “This organization gave me everything, and now it’s time to give back in a new way.”
Fans and former teammates have applauded the move, seeing it as a powerful symbol of tradition, loyalty, and the next chapter in the Canucks’ proud legacy.
