In a historic announcement, the Toronto Maple Leafs have unveiled a massive $1.3 billion renovation plan for Scotiabank Arena, aiming to transform the iconic venue into a cutting-edge center for both professional and college ice hockey. The ambitious project will position Toronto as a global leader in hockey development, fan engagement, and multi-level competition.
Renovations are set to begin in mid-2026 and will include upgraded seating, enhanced concourse and hospitality areas, advanced audio-visual technology, and an environmentally sustainable design. Most notably, the plan features the creation of a College Hockey Innovation Zone—a dedicated space for collegiate-level games, tournaments, and athlete development in partnership with Canadian and U.S. universities.
“This isn’t just about modernizing Scotiabank Arena,” said Maple Leafs President Brendan Shanahan. “It’s about growing the game—starting with our youth and extending to the college level.”
The new facilities will also house training academies, scholarship support programs, and elite coaching resources. With this sweeping initiative, the Maple Leafs are not only upgrading their home base—they’re redefining the future of hockey development in Canada, bridging the gap between grassroots, collegiate, and professional levels like never before.
