Sheffield United are reportedly exploring the possibility of re-signing a familiar face as they prepare for life in the Championship. According to sources close to the club, the Blades are keen on bringing back 28-year-old midfielder Sander Berge, who left Bramall Lane for Burnley in 2023. With Burnley also relegated this season, Berge could be open to a move, and Sheffield United are looking to capitalise.
The Norwegian international was a fan favourite during his time at United, known for his composure on the ball, physical presence in midfield, and ability to dictate the tempo of the game. His departure was seen as a major loss, but a return could inject much-needed quality and leadership into the current squad.
United manager Chris Wilder is believed to be heavily involved in talks, seeing Berge as a potential cornerstone in the club’s push for immediate promotion back to the Premier League. While no deal has been finalised yet, initial discussions have been positive.
Bringing Berge back would not only boost the team’s midfield but also lift the spirits of the fans, many of whom still regard him as one of the club’s most gifted players in recent years.
