Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has secured a commitment from Julian Sayin, a highly touted 5-star quarterback who transferred from Alabama. Sayin’s arrival adds significant depth to the Buckeyes’ quarterback roster, which already includes Lincoln Kienholz and true freshman Tavien St. Clair. 
Sayin’s high school career was marked by impressive statistics, including 7,824 passing yards, 85 touchdowns, and only 10 interceptions. He also showcased his mobility with 605 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, averaging 15.9 yards per carry. His dual-threat capabilities make him a valuable asset for Ohio State’s offensive strategy.
The competition for the starting quarterback position is expected to be intense. Kienholz, who has been with the Buckeyes since 2023, has limited game experience but is eager to prove himself. St. Clair, a 5-star recruit from Bellefontaine High School, brings a strong arm and athleticism to the mix.
National recruiting analysts have expressed confidence in Sayin’s potential. On3 National Recruiting Scout Cody Bellaire described him as “the definition of composed” and praised his quick release and field vision. Bellaire believes Sayin is poised to secure the starting role in Columbus.
As spring practices commence, Coach Day faces the challenge of evaluating these talented quarterbacks to determine the best fit for the starting position. The outcome of this competition will significantly influence Ohio State’s pursuit of a national championship in the upcoming season.
