Oklahoma pitcher Jordy Bahl has been honored as the Sporting News National Player of the Year, adding to her impressive list of accolades. Bahl, who transferred to Nebraska in 2023 to be closer to her hometown of Papillion, Nebraska, has demonstrated exceptional talent both in the circle and at the plate.

During her tenure at Oklahoma, Bahl led the Sooners to a national championship in 2023, earning the Women’s College World Series Most Outstanding Player award. She pitched 24.2 scoreless innings during the series, including a win and a save in the championship games against Florida State. Her season concluded with a remarkable 0.90 ERA, ranking second nationally.

Since joining Nebraska, Bahl has continued her dominance. She has started multiple games as a pitcher, first baseman, and designated player. Notably, she pitched a no-hitter against Northern Colorado, marking the fourth of her career and the 41st in Nebraska’s history. At the plate, Bahl has been a consistent force, hitting .444 during the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic and recording a multi-home run game against New Mexico State.

Bahl’s resilience has been evident following a season-ending ACL injury in 2024. She believes the setback has changed her for the better, allowing her to appreciate the game more deeply.

This latest recognition as the Sporting News National Player of the Year underscores Bahl’s exceptional contributions to collegiate softball and her unwavering dedication to excellence.
