
Jennifer Rocha, currently the associate head coach and pitching coach for the University of Oklahoma’s softball team, has been instrumental in the program’s recent successes. Under her guidance, the Sooners’ pitching staff led the nation with a remarkable 0.96 earned run average (ERA) during their championship-winning 2023 season. This outstanding performance contributed to Oklahoma securing its third consecutive national title and seventh overall.
Rocha’s coaching prowess was recognized when she was named the Easton/NFCA Division I Assistant Coach of the Year in 2023, marking her second time receiving this honor. Her ability to develop top-tier pitchers has been a cornerstone of Oklahoma’s dominance in collegiate softball.
Her journey with the Sooners began as a student-athlete from 1996 to 1998, followed by a stint as a graduate assistant from 1999 to 2001. After successful coaching roles at other institutions, Rocha returned to Oklahoma in 2018 as the associate head coach and pitching coach.
Rocha’s coaching style emphasizes calmness and sensibility, qualities that resonate deeply with her players. Pitchers like Jordy Bahl have praised Rocha for her insightful and supportive approach, highlighting how Rocha’s demeanor helps them stay composed and focused during high-pressure situations.
Her contributions extend beyond individual accolades; the entire Oklahoma coaching staff was honored as the NFCA Division I National Coaching Staff of the Year in 2023. This recognition underscores the collective excellence and leadership within the program.
