Collingwood Football Club has made significant moves to bolster its lineup ahead of the 2025 AFL season. In a major three-team trade finalized in October 2024, the Magpies secured star defender Dan Houston from Port Adelaide.
The complex deal also involved the Gold Coast Suns and saw several players and draft picks exchanged. Houston, known for his elite ball use and defensive prowess, joins Collingwood on a six-year contract, bringing leadership and experience to the backline.
Additionally, Collingwood is set to enhance its forward line by signing key forward Tim Membrey as a delisted free agent. The 30-year-old former St Kilda player has been a consistent goalkicker, leading the Saints’ scoring on three occasions and achieving 30-plus goals in seven seasons. Membrey’s experience and leadership are expected to add depth and versatility to the Magpies’ attacking options.
These strategic acquisitions underscore Collingwood’s commitment to strengthening its squad, aiming for a robust performance in the upcoming AFL season.
