BREAKING NEWS: Canucks F Drew O’Connor gets 2-year, $5M extension. Full details via link👇

The Vancouver Canucks have locked down forward Drew O’Connor with a new 2-year contract extension worth $5 million, the team officially announced Monday. The deal will carry an average annual value (AAV) of $2.5 million, keeping the 26-year-old winger in Vancouver through the 2026–27 season.

O’Connor, who was acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins in a mid-season trade, quickly became a valuable depth asset for the Canucks during their 2024–25 playoff push. Known for his speed, two-way play, and versatility, O’Connor tallied 8 goals and 14 assists in 64 games this season, including a handful of key contributions down the stretch.

General Manager Patrik Allvin praised O’Connor’s work ethic and upside, noting, “Drew brings energy, responsibility, and can contribute in all situations. We’re excited to see his continued growth in a Canucks uniform.”

The contract is seen as a team-friendly deal, giving Vancouver some cap flexibility while solidifying their bottom-six forward group. O’Connor’s ability to play both wing and center gives head coach Rick Tocchet added lineup flexibility heading into the 2025–26 campaign.

With the extension finalized, the Canucks continue to build on a strong core as they aim for sustained playoff contention.
