Oklahoma Sooners softball standout Allyssa Parker has made headlines beyond the field with a remarkable act of generosity. In a heartfelt move, Parker has invested $3.6 million to transform a large historic home in Norman, Oklahoma, into a fully functional shelter for homeless youth. The shelter, to be named “Sooners Youth Haven,” will provide safe housing, hot meals, mental health support, and educational resources for vulnerable teens and young adults in the community.
The project was inspired by Parker’s own experiences volunteering with youth outreach programs and witnessing the rising number of homeless teens across the state. “This is bigger than softball,” Parker said in a press release. “It’s about giving kids a chance to find hope and stability when they need it most.”
The renovation is already underway and is expected to be completed by early 2026. The shelter will serve up to 40 residents at a time, with staff on site 24/7 and programs designed to help youth transition into independent living. Teammates, fans, and university officials have praised Parker for using her platform to make a tangible impact. Her investment sets a powerful example of leadership, compassion, and community commitment.
