Dawsonville, GA — NASCAR driver Chase Elliott is shifting gears from racing to philanthropy with a heartfelt $3.6 million donation to transform a historic property in his hometown into a shelter for homeless youth. The initiative aims to address the growing crisis of youth homelessness across Georgia and the Southeast.
The shelter, to be named “The Finish Line House,” will provide safe housing, meals, education support, and mental health resources for youth aged 14 to 22 who are experiencing homelessness or aging out of foster care. The facility will also offer life skills programs and mentorship to help young residents build stable, independent futures.
“I’ve been fortunate to have strong support growing up, and I want to give that same chance to kids who need it most,” Elliott said. “This is bigger than racing—it’s about giving people hope.”
Local leaders praised the move, calling it a major step in addressing youth homelessness in the region. Construction on the facility is expected to begin by the end of the year, with a projected opening in 2026. Elliott’s effort reflects a growing trend of athletes using their platform to drive meaningful social change in their communities.
