In a stunning announcement this morning, Richard Childress Racing confirmed that two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch will retire from full-time Cup competition at the conclusion of the 2025 season. The veteran driver, known for his aggressive style and competitive fire, will shift gears in 2026 to run full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
Busch, 40, has had an illustrious Cup Series career, boasting over 60 wins and two championships (2015 and 2019). His departure from the top level of stock car racing marks the end of an era for one of the sport’s most polarizing and accomplished figures. In a statement released by the team, Busch said, “This isn’t goodbye to racing — it’s just a new chapter. I’m excited to compete full-time in Xfinity and continue doing what I love.”
While some fans are saddened by the announcement, others are thrilled at the chance to watch Busch dominate once again in the series where he holds the all-time wins record. RCR stated they will announce a successor for the No. 8 car in the coming months.
Kyle Busch’s legacy in NASCAR is secure, but he’s not done yet.
